The Hobbit. An impression.

I have just finished reading The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tokien, a lovely book that was subject of a recent movie series too.

From the list of main characters of the novel, I have chosen Bilbo Baggins to draw and later to paint. Drawing human faces in a realistic way is one, but to try to represent the exact proportions of a real one falls on a more complex category of effort.

It took me a few hours separated by a good night sleep to be able to come up with a drawing that sort of resembles the main character in the The_Hobbit_(film_series), the English actor Martin Freeman.

I could have used a Camera Lucida for a more accurate representation, but that would have defeated the purpose of my activity to better train in the art of drawing. Proportions, proportions and proportions are key.
